Most builders we spoke with were cost plus X%, and based on the horror stories we had heard from others about huge overruns we knew we wanted the assurance that fixed price brings. What also set Merrill apart was their professionalism, both in person and in presentation, giving a detailed price proposal that far outclassed the other proposals we received. Though they were on the higher-end of the bids we got, we picked them knowing that we'd only pay for what we agreed to. > > We spent several months iterating on plans and designs, utilizing their talented staff to make recommendations, and arrived to a scope, design, and price that we were comfortable with. Within a few weeks work began and we were shocked at both the speed and quality of the work of their contractors. All of their staff including sub-contractors were incredibly friendly, polite, and professional. Throughout the build the communication was excellent, and we always knew what the next steps were. The project finished several weeks ahead of schedule and at the agreed budget. We loved the bones, but wanted to change the floor plan, add a full bath, renovate the kitchen, add an exterior French door, windows, brick stairs and more. From tiles to bricks to plumbing and electrical, Hilson worked with us to create a plan and carry out our wishes down to the last detail. Our project was finished on time and on budget, despite the fact that we included several changes along the way. Merrill's team was responsive, respectful, and delivered top-notch work across the board. We were regularly apprised of what was happening so we were never in. doubt. I hear stories of other home renovations for which the customer ends up supervising half of the work being done, but this was never the case with Merrill Construction. They did what they said they were going to do and did it when they said they were going to do it. Unfortunately, I am not sure as the prints belong to the homeowner and were installed after our work was completed. **Q: What vanity was used? It is great.** *(in Photo Questions)* I was hoping it would be listed as a for sale item but every else but the vanity is tagged. A: Thank you for inquiring. This vanity was actually custom made to fit the space. Unfortunately, this is not an off the shelf item. **Q: what is the countertop?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: Thanks for asking! The material is Soapstone. **Q: what color/brand paint** *(in Photo Questions)* What color paint is used in this dining room? A: Thanks for your inquiry. The wall color is Sherwin WIlliams Snowbound SW7004 painted with an eggshell finish. I hope that helps. **Q: What are the paint colors please?** *(in Photo Questions)* Lovely overall color scheme! A: Thank you for asking. The field color is Porter Paint Dogwood blossom. The trim color is White Umber (I think, this project was a few years back so that particular color escapes me). The shutters are a color called Belle Meade Green. I'm not sure if Porter sells this color in all of their stores as it is a popular color here in Nashville and they have named the color code here.
