Living in rural Canada our options for cabinet makers were limited. Our kitchen was designed by an independently hired architect, so their design services were not really needed for our project. We chose half shinnoki wood and half painted cabinets, and the finishes are beautiful. I love our new kitchen. I would have preferred to go with laminated cabinets vs painted for better durability, however the colour options were quite limited (when compared to other companies we looked at online). Also there were certain cabinet designs that could not be accommodated by Swede (pocketing doors on an appliance garage for example), so this created additional work for our contractor who had to modify these boxes. Xenia Rose, our designer, really went above and beyond to ensure our kitchen was both functional and fit with the vibe of the rest of our small, mid-century home. We appreciated the well-edited choices on the Swede website for cabinetry, counters and more. Having gone through renovations before, we knew that it was easy to get overwhelmed with design choices. We were also impressed at how quickly our project moved and that there were no significant delays, in fact the cabinetry was ready earlier than expected.
