In building my house, I want to use as many “re-purposed” elements as possible. In the kitchen, this includes recycled appliances that have been refurbished to adapt them to modern energy needs. So the re-purposed Youngstown metal cabinets will be in good company with my 1953 Kelvinator Foodarama refrigerator and my 1957 O’Keefe & Merritt gas stove! My kitchen will look like something from a 1950s issue of Architectural Digest but still be 100% functional. > > Too often, being eco-friendly means paying a high premium.
