She was knowledgeable and gave me some great ideas. The problem with this company is that when you place orders, you cannot get a person on the phone to discuss any issues you may have with your order, and response time is very slow. An example of lack of customer service - I ordered an office chair with the color 'beige' within the chair description on their site, and when it was sent to me, the box listed the chair as 'gray'. When I emailed help@modsy to return, I was literally told that the colors look different online, and that I can't return it, because that was what I ordered. Insulting, frustrating, and ultimately one reason why I won't deal with this company anymore. > I returned some pillows a month ago that I ordered, and my account still has not been credited. I can't talk to anybody about this, because there is no customer service line that I can call. I've sent several emails with no response at all. I did get a response to the last email that I sent, asking me which pillows I returned, though I had sent them a screen shot of the pillows returned in one of my previous emails farther down the email chain. I called this to their attention, again no response. So, I'm just waiting for my refund. Who knows? I was encouraged by the scale and ease of measurements and I had a great call with my designer within a week. Unfortunately it went way downhill from there. My designer told me that I'd have my design on x date. I followed up every day and was repeatedly ignored. I finally got an answer that my designer wasn't on the project and it would be multiple extra days before I got my design. I ordered rugs and that went very well, they are good quality and reasonably priced. > The dining room table that I ordered said "in stock" for two full months but never shipped and I kept asking for updates but was ignored. Finally I got a response that the table was discontinued and I'd get a refund. I think that if I hadn't kept following up, they would have just kept my money and never followed up. They finally refunded me but I logged in today and the site shows the same table available and deeply discounted. When I asked my (2nd) designer for other recommendations I got a message that she was also gone and someone else would recommend a table. The one they recommended was $1000 more than the one I originally paid for. The dining room chairs we ordered arrived in a timely manner but one was damaged. When I called to get a replacement, I was told that those too were discontinued and they couldn't replace the one chair. > The sofa they recommended was out of stock multiple times. The original design clocked in at $20k even though I'd given a budget of 7-9 for 2 rugs, dining room table & chairs, and sofa. > Not a good experience overall. They discounted my package because of the extreme delay in getting my design and they gave me 50% off of one of the chairs because of the damage and inability to replace. I finally ordered a sofa & loveseat & and dining room table directly from a retailer because the options were just inadequate and I can't trust Modsy to get the products to me. **Comment from Modsy:** > Hi Taylor—Thanks for feeling us in via the Houzz platform. I joined for the Luxe package, specifically because of "communicate with your designer by phone calls". I leaned this meant ONE phone call, after which the designer blocked her calendar from all communication for 1 month. The initial design was unworkable (with the re-organization of furniture, the door wouldn't open) and dangerous (a ladder the designer described as "functional" had a product description "for display only, not to be stood on". The technology is not easy; when I repeatedly asked for assistance, I was sent an online tutorial in which even the Modsy rep couldn't get one function to operate. I wanted to replace the vast majority of my living room furniture and was finally getting a formal dining room, so I needed some help with both rooms. I laid out what I was looking for and in what price range and the designs I got were great. You can narrow down your likes and dislikes using the example looks they provide. I had no idea my taste was "mid-century modern" just because it doesn't \*sound\* like something I'd like, but sure enough, that's what my taste is! :-) I purchased several items directly from Modsy and they are fantastic - really great pieces that are well made and stylish. I used the designs to find other items outside of Modsy, too, so even if you don't purchase directly through them, the inspiration is great. I have a very small, narrow living room-dining room combination, and I was frustrated with trying to set it up tastefully and comfortably. When I saw the ad for Modsy on TV I checked it out and was able to apply a coupon making the cost so affordable, I had to try it. I didn't honestly think they would be able to do much because, in addition to having a small space, I had four larger pieces of furniture that I wanted to keep. I hadn't been able to figure out what to do, and I thought the Modsy designer would probably tell me, sorry, lady, there's nothing I can do! Instead, I was amazed at what I was sent. Two designs that I loved. The only hard part was deciding which one to go with. All of the furniture I wanted to keep was used, and there was no requirement that I purchase anything. Though what I needed most was a new layout design, the individual pieces that were recommended were easy to find at a reasonable price or easy to substitute. I wasn't sure how much I was willing to spend on a redecorating project, but I went ahead and added new dining room chairs, a new cabinet, new rugs and pillows, a couple of small tables, and a few other accent items (I got rid of some old stuff too). Now my room is coming together and it is both more functional, comfortable and beautiful! My only disappointment was the discount that I was supposed to get. It only amounted to 10% and I was hoping for more. So, I didn't end up buying many things from Modsy in particular, but that just ended up being a loss for them more than me because I was able to find a lot of good deals elsewhere. It just would have been nice to get what I wanted all in one place for a great price. You can find a similar color for your walls using "Kendall Charcoal by Benjamin Moore" Just remember that lighting and decor in your space can alter the way wall color looks, so it's always smart to start with a sample swatch on your walls to see how you like it. **Q: bedroom with sloped ceilings & built-ins?** *(in Design Dilemma)* So...will you please help me with your eyes and vision for this immensely difficult room to decorate because of its sloped walls and numerous built-ins. ( I will not replace the bed (similar to this mockup) and the 2 nightstands). Room facing bed section: Issues I see: don't want a desk in bedroom; there are two offices in house. Prefer a vanity. I don't like furniture chosen. I like the idea of matching pictures on either side; maybe mirrors on each side. Mirror here covers the vent. Here's their view of the front section of room: I don't think the furniture works well with bed and nightstand. The small piece on side may block the drawers. I don't like the look - not my taste at all.Their Second Design: So many different types of furniture. WHY? Another No-no imho. I have 2 offices in house. I don't want one in this bedroom. I really don't like hampers in a bedroom! And they really should have put this chair into design one. View from window to wall: Furniture doesn't match.
