Since I am a widow, this is very important to me, > A word of advice, before closing on an home, allocate 20k to go into escrow to cover costs the builder does not complete or repair. > I was left with a rotting, leaking roof and water going behind the siding and stone. This started nine months after moving in. With pictures and phone calls that problems were present. HBC and Miller Roofing never took care of the problem. I had to hire someone else to replace the roofing and rotting wood. > In addition, the siding and soffit were not completely painted or caulked, and outside door facings began peeling within weeks of moving in. > The cabinet doors were sparsely painted and not all four edges were painted. The painter commented he was not paid enough for the job. > The builder and I signed this "punch list" stating I would not add additional items to the list and she would do the repairs.
