**Q: Where is the Chair from?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Would you be able to tell me where the gold lattice chair in the foreground is from?

**Q: New House Dining Room Challenge** *(in Design Dilemma)*

This picture shows the dining room and entry portion of the great room in our new Florida house under construction. We did some altering of the spaces to give us storage in the adjoining laundry room and a double entry door. But in so doing, we ended up with an unexpectedly small dining room area - 9' (from corner to edge of front door) x 11' (from corner to the end of the china hutch wall) - with no demarcation of space. So my questions are - How would you arrange furniture in there? Would you create a sitting area with a gate-leg table that can be opened up for dinner parties (we have a breakfast nook for day-to-day dining). Or would you put in a round table that has a few leaves, so that a chandelier wouldn't look odd hanging there. Which brings me to my second question - I have to choose lighting for the entry way and the dining room and I'm at a loss. You can see that the lights will only be about 9' apart so they have to compliment each other, but how do you do that with a high hanging entry light and a low hanging chandelier so close to each other? Finally, how would you demarcate the space since that whole area has the same flooring - tile. We could build a short wall between the front door and the dining area. Or I could use a piece of furniture to create the feeling of an entryway. What do you think? Thank you SOOO much for your help. I wake up thinking about this!

A: Where in Florida is this house? the floor plan looks so familiar. Double Study/office doors are commonplace here and I don't agree that changing out those doors will add to dining room space.

**Q: Magnetic white boards vs. magnetic chalk boards in kitchen?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

As part of our upcoming kitchen remodel, we plan to install two magnetic whiteboards or chalkboards in the eat-in dining area.  We have three young boys who are constantly bringing home art projects, permission slips, etc., and we'd like a place to hang up this sort of thing with magnets (won't be able to do it on our new paneled fridge).  I also like the idea of having a family "message center" where we can leave notes to each other, let the boys draw pictures, etc.  

My question is: should we go with whiteboard or chalkboards, and why?  (Either way, we'd get them magnetized).  Color-wise, either white or black should work fine: we'll have white cabinetry, gray & white granite countertops, natural oak floors, and black slate tile in the adjacent entryway/mudroom.  White would blend right in with the cabinetry; black would break up the white a bit more and pick up the black in the tile.  From a practical standpoint, I wonder which would be easier / cleaner to use?  Whiteboards sounded cleaner initially, though I find the look of clean (black) chalkboards to be striking.  I know they get messy/dusty with chalk use, but I thought perhaps we could use chalkboard markers - the kind restaurants use for menus.  Do chalkboard markers clean off well?  Is one more easily magnetized than the other?

Any advice - especially from those with experience - is welcome.  Thank you!

A: white boards most definitely!

**Q: Master bedroom** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Lots to do in here. We plan to upgrade to a king bed so will need a new headboard and footboard. Since the set is no longer available we were thinking about getting a fabric headboard. plus we need new bedding. Paint and some curtains are also needed. We also have a sitting room off the master bedroom with brown leather furniture.

A: After painting the walls and coffered ceiling, I would suggest moving the bed to the wall where the dresser is drawn in on your plan view. Center it on that wall with nightstands on either side and make it your focal point when you walk into the room. A fabric headboard is great, but be sure its a textured fabric - add some interest! or maybe some flat tufting (see my photos of custom headboard). Then place the dresser between the windows on the other wall.
