We swapped the location of the tub and a shower enlarging the shower. We moved the window above the tub in line with the door, allowing the mountain view and natural light into the master bedroom. A: Yes carpet beetle. They are harmless.

**Q: What is your "deep clean" routine?** *(in Home Decorating)*

Do you have a specific order you follow? Tricks that have saved you time and trouble? Favorite products? Let's hear it!

A: I try to do extra deep cleaning task every couple of weeks. I can't spend 2 days on pretty much anything. So whenever I have an hour I'll do 1 extra thing: organize the bathroom vanity, vacuum picture frames... organize pantry... whatever. Like that Is always sort of under control, but it doesn't feel like a the "big task".

**Q: How do I cut this tile?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I chose a backsplash that is made up of hexagons that are different - marble, glass and I believe a ceramic. Can I cut all of these with a wet saw? Or do I need to use a wet saw for the natural stone then score and snap the glass and ceramic?

A: We always use score and snap for the glass. So much easier and cleaner. But as people above are saying you can go either way. I would make lots of tast cuts if I were you and decide what looks best. You could also use diamond file to polish the edges to make it look really good.

**Q: What is the best use of money to update this home’s curb appealy** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Looking to update the exterior and considering a few possibilities.  Any thoughts on the best use of our money.  Here are a few things we’re
 considering...

1\. Painting the brick
2\. Updating the shutters and painting shutters
3\.  Updating landscaping
4\. Replacing windows
5\. Replacing garage door

I’d love feedback on the best bang for our buck! We will rent for a year, so do not want to “over improve,” but want it to have a good first impression.  Open to any/all suggestions. Thanks!

A: Usually paining the brick will turn it into the maintenance nightmare. The mortar will start retaining water and deteriorating and you'll be looking at a very expensive repointing job in a few years. Brick is the "no maintenance" siting material, why mess with that... I agree with people that say landscaping. You can barely see the house now. But if you are in a hot area... then maybe it's a good thing....

**Q: Is this acceptable for a shower rebuild** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Very unhappy with the quality of tile work by my contractor. Specifically the grout lines are wide and un even in several large areas. He gave me some bs excuses.  But I think this is not acceptable quality.  His bullnose arrived late and didn't wait to place that before the surrounding tile.  The top of the inset is a mess

A: Wow... I would say this is a lot of money for work that crappy. But I completely agree about not letting him into your house again! I have this personal rule: everybody makes judgement mistakes from time to time, but as soon as you realize you made this mistake you have to stop ... that very second... and cut your losses and start fixing your mistake. A few times I did not stop (deadline, deposit paid, yada yada) and nothing good came of it.... So yes don't let him back in!!
This is $3600 worth of tile install in an expensive city (but excludes water proofing) but tiles are huge, and includes 2 fireplaces too!
