## Community Q&A

**Q: What should go above these kitchen cabnets?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

A: Nothing

**Q: Advice please! Need a 2nd choice to white cabinets** *(in Polls)*

I have always wanted to have crisp, white cabinets but our builder only carries Merillat chiffon (creamy)white. I know some people love the creamy white but I worry about it going with my taste for cool, bright colors and the white trim and doors we will have. These look too yellow for me.
My very distant 2nd choice to white would be espresso cabinets but every kitchen I am drawn to for inspiration is white.
I guess I am wondering if anyone else has gone through this or would have some advice to make either the chiffon or espresso work with my taste.
Pictures attached from the builder of the chiffon and the espresso. My kitchen layout will be very similar to the espresso photo.
One more note, of course the chiffon cabinets are closer to the white I like, but are also a $2000 upgrade over the espresso.

A: Happy to hear you went with the expresso; it can look fantastic with lots of white finishes and fixtures. Also you may want to consider doing a white on top only, as long as you can get white and not off white. Good luck, good choice!

**Q: House selling/staging question** *(in Paint)*

I'm going to be putting my house on the market in three months so right now I'm getting rooms repainted to freshen it up. Do I hang "artwork" back on the walls to sell or just pack up my stuff for moving? I'd hate to put nail holes in the newly done walls for the new owners, but I know people like to see more than bare walls when shopping. Thank you!

A: Annette, Generally a buyer would need to see that the dining room could seat at least 6 comfortably, so I would absolutely go ahead and put that leaf and those chairs back. Do a beautiful new tableset, or don't do it all. Better to have the table empty than to have an unappealing setting on it. At the least, instead of a houseplant (if that is what you were going to do on the table), get a bunch of white tulips, place them in a clear glass vase, and you can be done. Keep it fresh. Good Luck!

**Q: Wood paneling. Paint? Color? How much paint?** *(in Before & After)*

We need help on design for this space to brighten up rooms sooooo much wood

A: If you leave the horizontal boards in the living area natural as I suggest, you might want to go with a wood floor that continues that same color on the flooring you choose. Then it will be cohesive. Dark floorboards are beautiful, but they should work with existing permanent elements. My above suggestions are based on painting ALL the walls however. It would brighten up the entire first floor living area. So I'd definitely PAINT walls first, and then take it from there. One thing at a time and you will get there!
