## Community Q&A

**Q: Separate charge to install kitchen cabinet pulls?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Please give me some feedback.  I am providing long distance design and project assistance to my elderly mother who lives a state away from me and decided for her 85th birthday, it was high time to gut her kitchen. Ok fine. She is almost to the end of the project, cabinets are in, appliances going in, counters in, faucet installed. Nearing the final lap. Today her carpenter told her he would be charging her for the labor to install her cabinet pulls as it was not in his original project price. He then quoted a labor price per pull of $5.00 per pull.  I have not had that situation occur before so was not sure what to say. (nor does it probably matter how I feel) 
Please let me know if cabinet pull installation is typically an additional project charge. I would have thought it was included since he was gutting and installing a new kitchen. If it was not included in his quote or if my Mom just needs to get the job completed, what is a reasonable labor price per pull or should it be priced by the hour vs by the pull.  She has 32 pulls. They are standard 4" on center pulls and she used Shaker style cabinets. Project is cost sensative but not bare bones and is located in Michigan.

A: I charge $5 per pull if I have to replace existing pulls for new pulls. $8 if I have to drill 2 holes per pull, $7 for one hole drilled per pull
