Building practices in the 50's and 60's was much different than they are today. This is not to say that a house built in 1960 is inferior, just that it makes reworking an older home more difficult. After several meetings we decided to install a solid oak floor throughout our entire 1st floor, remodel our kitchen and dining area, gut and completely redo our master bath and retile our other 2nd floor bath. The entire job took 10 weeks to complete. Joe plus all his crew were friendly and professional at all times. They were very clean as we continued to live in our house the entire time except for the two weeks we were on vacation. The workmanship was excellent and the project manager Mark had great attention to detail. Four years later we are still very pleased with the job that was done. The one things that stands out for me is that Joe the owner is a man of his word. Things that he said he'd do he always followed through on until everything was done to our satisfaction. We’ve had so many delays I want to ignore it but don’t know if I can A: The epoxy fill used for seam is a gray instead of a white. Would recommend they mix white with a hint of gray. This may match the stone a littler better. With that being said, you will always see the seam because it is a straight line running through material and not natural looking but color match will help. **Q: What kind of wood could give a similar look in this kitchen** *(in Design Dilemma)* This kitchen gives me heart palpitations. My pocketbook being nothing so grand, I would still like to look at doing something along the lines of this. Obviously navy uppers, white counters, white sink, but what would you do for the lowers? This one is reclaimed white oak and that's not so much an option. Regular plain sawn oak I don't think would give a similar look. Hickory maybe? (Not the super dark/light contrast rustic hickory) A: Hickory would be your next best option. Cost effective material and looks great.
