Can you suggest something other than granite for this look? Love the black.

thanks so much for your prompt reply. We are North Captiva Island in Florida. I noticed you are in Ft. Lauderdale. Do you have an office in Ft Myers per chance?
Also, what is the difference between leather and honed?

Love the leathered black absolute on the countertops.

- What is additional cost to get the leathered finish?

i would like to use a black granite on my island. Can you recommend which one to go with.
i see alot of absolute black used but have no idea which to go with honed or leathered? Any suggestions
  • claramarks1
Purchased leathered black granite (have invoice) and they installed honed granite. The honed leaves every finger print, glass mark and bowls set on counter.

I'm contacting the installer and asking for them to replace the kitchen counter with the leather granite. Any suggestions how to approach this sticky situation?

are the sides/edges leathered too or polished in appearance?

  • angeladferguson
How is the leathered edge created? What I've seen has a regularly polished edge...

Is the leather finish the same as a brushed finish?

How do you like them? I am currently battling with the decision of honed black granite (probably Virginia/Jet mist) vs. soapstone!

Thank you for your inquiry. Generally a leather finish will minimize the appearance of smudges. However with absolute black with a leather finish will show smudges more obviously than other materials.

Still looking for opinions on Corian countertops. Are they so over

- It's not a cost thing. I think granite is getting over done

  • carolyngw

I am doing the same thing - Burled Beach, cream cabinets, stainless under mount sink. I just ordered the countertops last weekend. Do you have any photos? Are you happy with them after two years?

  • memcnult

We love our Witch Hazel Corian countertops. I think some of the 'speckled' corian can look dated and/or out of place in a home kitchen (looks more like a cafeteria to me), but I love the simple white, and many of the more modern options. We don't like the hardness of quartz or granite, and so it was formica or corian for us. We paired it with a stainless steel bar/peninsula, so we have plenty of space for hot pans, which is the only thing that had me hesitating over corian.

Thank you for your questions. If you used an enhancing sealer or a sealer that leaves a sheen, it will dry with that effect. In order to not have the material change appearance, we recommend bullerproof which is a water based impregnating sealer. Not knowing what you applied to the counter top it is difficult to advise you. We suggest you contact your fabricator to seek their advice.
