I'm trying to layout pictures along my stairs with a similar style but have no idea which pictures to use and how to lay out. I have mostly 8 x 10 pictures (and smaller) in frames so not sure if I should have some pics enlarged to make it more interesting like this.

I agree on Costco- great prices for printing and for frames! Yes, definitely use a variety of sizes, but try to create cohesion by using similar frames/matts. I did a similar family gallery wall that also has both black & white and colour. The frames are all black of different thicknesses with crisp white matts. You could always spray paint frames....

Easy way to do the layout---take paper bags, trace your frames that you'll be using onto them, cut them out. Then use tape to move the paper "frames" around until you like the arrangement. Once you like the effect, then hang your frames. Saves unwanted holes in the wall. :)

Where did you get the balusters on your stairs? Or who is the manufacturer? They are a great shape. Would love to find them or something similar.

These frames don't have backs to them so how do you make the photo stay? Do you mount it onto something?

It is a frame within a frame. The rectangular little picture is in a frame with the ornate, oval frame around it.

That's what I would do anyway.

Hmm, I'm not seeing the green "more info" link below the photo. Does anyone have a guess as to what color the green is?

What is the rake height on the stairs? Can you tell me the heights of the balusters used on the stairs in order to achieve the symmetrical look on the top and bottom?

Did you paint these frames, and antique them yourself? Or are they store bought. I am really struggling with what to do on my stair case. I've looked at several ideas, but yours fits my style, and I adore your creativity.

Yes, try this at home! Lola B. has managed to incorporate vintage frames, family photos, and even an ampersand into this wall. What ties them all together is the black-and-white palette and vintage feel.
Becky Harris added this to Trend Alert: Ampersands
Lola B.'s composition of frames and photos includes the curves of the ampersand for an added graphic punch. You can find similar ampersands like this one on Etsy.

12. Picture frames. Old picture frames with good shapes and details can be easily repainted to match whatever scheme you wish. No glass in the frame? Use it to frame a corkboard instead or hang it on the wall and tape a picture in the middle for a fun, eclectic look.
