Yes, Craigslist, Etsy, Flea Markets, Thrift Stores - I'm always searching. This night stand I believe came from an antique store. My mother gifted it to me.

It looks great. I had the whole set at one time. Twin Beds Headboard were really nice. They were 40's Drexel.

Bed placement - Hello...wether small or large I often see the bed being placed directly at the window....it has to affect heating as, normally, there is a heating grate under the windows....should one move the grate?....please I'd like an explanation....thank you.

Thank you for your comments. Much appreciated. I was thinking that nowadays grates probably don't need to be installed directly unders windows. I'm renovating a small two-bedroom 1964 bungalow and one of the rooms could only accommodate a double bed under the window.

We have a tiny bedroom with windows on two walls. The room really only fits a single bed, but we put an antique double bed (with headboard and footboard) in the corner so that it is perched in and between both windows. This placement makes the bed feel almost like a built in window seat or cozy bower when you are inside. Our son loves it. Plus it gets great cross drafts in summer.

I love the room but am wondering if making the bed isn't hard. Especially when you are changing the bedding.

The nightstand is vintage and was purchased through an antique store. You can find similar ones at Etsy.com

Is this an old maids room in a NY city apartment? - We have looked at Prewar apartments in NY and always thought the small maids rooms off the kitchen were a waste of space. You really show how great thy can be.

Thank you. This room was when we originally rented it, an alcove off the kitchen. Said to be the living room. We built the wall and flipped the rooms so that the larger space was the living room. The only inconvenience was that our closet was in the adjoining room.

If you don't have the bed rails for this bed, how can I keep the mattress up? - I have a bed similar to this one but I lost the bed rails when I moved. It's obviously an antique so I'm wondering where I could find the rails. The connection to the head and foot boards are shaped kind of like a horseshoe.

Good question. For this bed we bought 2 x 4" boards (about 16 of them) and laid them horizontally across the bed frame. It worked surprisingly well.

KitchenLab | Rebekah Zaveloff Interiors added this to Big Style for Small Bedrooms
If you have room for just one side table, push the bed up against the wall and add a clip lamp to the headboard, but use the same tricks as shown in the previous picture. Run the window panels to the ceiling to accentuate the ceiling height, add a roman shade for privacy and texture, and add artwork to fill in the space to the right of the panels so that the back wall is filled visually. This cozy little room is big on style.
Lisa Frederick added this to Large-Scale Pieces Give Small Rooms Massive Style
Be creative with placement. In a perfect world, you'd never have to block a window or obstruct a pathway with furniture. But in small rooms, sometimes you need to break the rules. These homeowners managed to squeeze a full-size bed into this narrow bedroom by backing it against the window. By keeping the headboard light and open, they've allowed as much sunlight to penetrate as possible.

5. Layered window treatments. To dress your windows really warmly, bundle them up in insulating shades (or cellular shades) with curtains hung on top. This elegant look makes any room feel more finished and will keep your house warmer.

Cheryl Freedman added this to How to Decorate Your Small Bedroom
Don’t underdecorate. The temptation in a small space can be to pare back. But that can end up looking dull and undesigned. Don’t be scared to decorate a small bedroom with some of the elements you might find in a larger room, including pictures, rugs and decorative lighting. The result is a “proper” room — a cozy retreat to which you’ll enjoy escaping.Find an interior designer to decorate your small bedroom
