Love the blue flowers. What are they? Are they by any chance drought resistent?

Hydrangeas are not known for being drought tolerant. They like shade or partial sun and they cannot be left for too long without water. I'm amazed by how well my garden is 'hanging in there' with very little water and mature plants like these would live through a water cutback - but they are not really drought tolerant plants.

Nancy, you're right, hydrangeas are not drought tolerant, especially the mopheads, and they need plenty of water in summer. I live in Vancouver, and although I have the drip watering system around them, those located in an almost full sun location require an additional daily watering with a hose. The lacecaps are less demanding though. But, the result is so rewarding!

I am interested in who did the walls and roughly how expensive.

  • PRO
    Howard Design Studio
The walls are a slate colored brick imported from England, making the wall quite expensive.

Hydrangeas always look great in a traditional setting. Make sure to cut them back annually
