    Thanks Michael for color info.

This question is for anyone and everyone, what are your thoughts on this color with weinscott and high gloss cherry wood floors?
  • Irene Morresey
It could be grasscloth wallpaper in the dining room perhaps

Thanks everyone, we went with BM Copper Mountain and it turned out pretty nice.
  • emilyws
I think it would look realllyyy good in a light navy blue....It would look so perfect with the tiled floor. Or you could try a red, That would also look really nice.

Michael, this room is perfection!! I keep going back to it!! I love & appreciate that you take the time to answer peoples questions even though you arent getting paid for that time & advice. We are building a house in Cleveland Ohio. Do you ever travel there? Are you able to work with people long distance or do consulting advice long distance if we send you floor plans? We are starting from scratch with furniture & decor

Those look like standard 7 1/4" box newels at the bottom (could be the 6 1/2" as well) and may drop to 5" newels as you go up. both sizes are pretty standard with any decent stair supply company.
    • ladylightner

What about that particular design of the newels? Do you know what company has those? Thanks!

Hi Michael, I had a client send me this picture in their idea book. I was curious as to the color because I knew it was not SW. So I clicked on your site. There was no way I was going to ask you the color,( only because EVERYONE asks the paint color instead of just reading on) I figured you would have it on here somewhere and I must say you should be knighted into sainthood! How you have the patience to answer each and every question is beyond me. Holy cow you are a sweetie!! Hats off to ya!!!

I had Shaker Beige in my last home, in the living & dining rooms, and used Coastal Fog in the family room, dinette & kitchen ... the areas were open to each other and coordinated nicely. Coastal Fog is an awesome color, and I did most of my current home in it!

Hi again to my favorite Houzz designer. I've used the shaker beige in my family room and adjoining dining area. I cut the color 50% with white to use on my hall walls. But it still seems a bit too dark. Is there a color you could recommend that would blend in nicely with the shaker beige or should I have the color cut by 75%? I also, used the cut version on the 4 small areas above kitchen windows but not sure if I like it or not yet. Thank you for your kindness in helping all of us.

The finish spec'd is Matte. It looks like a flat finish but performs like an eggshell.

Try some golds, rusts & deep greens. stay away from browns, dark blues or grays.
      • J.Joanne L.

I too have stained woodwork...it's more golden oak that has aged so unfortunately the patina it has taken on has a bit of orange in it.....I painted the walls of a 17 foot room Shaker beige and then the feature (fireplace wall) AF115 Lodge by benjamin moore....It actually seems to remove some of the orange tint the wood work has...it is a rich beautiful brown but with the wood you can see a little green hue...it also worked wonderful in the powder room with the mayonnaise crown moulding and travertine tiles....Check it out
