White Macaubas Quartzite Kitchen

By installing White Macaubas Quartzite countertops, these homeowner's were able to obtain the look of marble without its porous qualities and maintenance. These natural stone countertops complement the polished Calacata Gold marble and glass Toledo pattern mosaic tile backsplash wonderfully, making it stand out like an art piece.

We partnered with DPM Designs, LLC of Medford, NJ on this project.

Just be aware that this material can etch.. we have it in our kitchen and water etches it. Fortunately, I experimented with a poultice of baking soda and it takes the water etches out. I read about others experiencing etching from oil/ketchup/wine. Heard a silicone-based sealer actually attracts oil-based stains so we went with a sealer by a company called Superior Stone Products and so far so good on no etching except water rings.. Good luck. it is a beautiful stone.

Quartzite is beautiful EXCEPT for one thing: if you have a lot of natural light coming into the kitchen, make sure you look at a sample Ina FLAT HORIZONTAL position. My sister got a HUGE island with white quartzite. The shine from the lights reflects differently on the quartz in the stone and it looks smeared, greasy, grimy, filthy. She found the only way to resolve the issue is to light it from underneath and that makes it gorgeous. But with natural light, it's an embarrassment because people think its a dirty kitchen counter.

I meant a "bit" slow. Very soon the preppers will be done and I need to make the final paint selection. Thank you again.

Hi Desma,
Thank you so much for your interest! Unfortunately, we were not responsible for the flooring, so I do not have that information on file. I do know that it is natural wood. Best of luck with your project!

Hi lynnmoo,

The paint color above the backsplash is Sherwin Williams 6170 Techno Gray. I do not have the information for the tan paint color in the next room, for we only did work in the kitchen. Thank you for your interest!

White Macaubas - How were the 90 degree seams made , considering the linear veining? Thank you

Hi woodsincity,

There actually are not any seams in this kitchen. That is a full piece of quartzite that forms the "L" shape in the corner between the stove and sink. The layout worked out perfectly in this particular kitchen so that no seams were necessary. If you take a close look at the veining you will notice that it runs length-wise over by the sink, and then vertically over by the stove. Thanks for your question!

is quartzite good for every day use on kitchen countertops?

Hi nayy,

Yes, quartzite is generally good for every day use. It tends to look like marble, but has properties more similar to granite. It still has to be sealed, and you should only clean it with a natural stone cleaner--such as Marbamist. Overall, it is a great marble alternative.

Some varieties of quartzite, like this White Macaubas, have much of the appearance of marble without the porosity issues and high maintenance.
