Has anyone had any luck finding any info on the sofa? Thankyou so much - I'd settle for the style or the name of the original maker - its the history that interests me. It does look very comfortable!

If the couch flairs up on the ends, it is called a gondola style. If it is straight across to the ends, it is not gondola style.

Great look. What finish is the white ceiling? Satin? gloss? What do you recommend? We have a low, mid century ranch and want to paint the wood stained ceilings white.

What Houzz contributors are saying:

Tara Bussema added this to My Houzz: 1950s Rebound for a Cliff May House
The open floor plan and abundance of windows make the 1,130-square-foot living area feel spacious. The Amstones are inspired by the notion that things were simpler in the '50s and '60s. To them, life back then was slower and more balanced; communities were tighter; family and friends were the priority. Embracing the decor and architecture of the era, they hope a less-is-more mindset radiates through their home. In decorating their great room, they wanted to create an inviting space where friends and family can gather.Flooring: Dorado by Celestial Cork; wall paint: Waterby, Vista Paint; sofa: vintage gondola style possibly by Adrian Pearsall, Xcape; coffee table: vintage Acclaim table in Walnut, Lane Furniture Company, Craigslist; bar stools: 1960s Erik Buck for O.D. Mobler Denmark, Xcape
Fred Albert added this to 10 Advantages of the Humble Ranch House
8. Midcentury mojo. Midcentury modern furniture is riding a wave of popularity right now, and there’s no better backdrop than a ranch house for those gems by Eames, Nelson and Wegner.Browse thousands of midcentury sofas and sectionals
Mitchell Parker added this to Photos of 2013: The Most Popular Midcentury Modern Spaces
1. Spaces in this Cliff May rancho tract house in Long Beach, California, snagged an impressive four spots in our list. The classic structure and expertly chosen period furnishings clearly won the hearts and minds of users. See more: My Houzz: 1950s Rebound for a Cliff May HouseFlooring: Dorado, Celestial Cork; wall paint: Waterby, Vista Paint; sofa: vintage gondola style, possibly by Adrian Pearsall, Xcape; coffee table: vintage Acclaim table in walnut, Lane Furniture Company, Craigslist; bar stools: 1960s Erik Buck for O.D. Mobler Denmark, Xcape
Mitchell Parker added this to Design Debate: Should You Ever Paint a Wood Ceiling White?
“Now, invoking Frank Lloyd Wright is a powerful move. Can I really argue against such an icon, particularly when pumped in the vein of God and Nature? Do I love going to Robie House? Absolutely. Would I want to live there? Would it appropriately serve our lives today? For most of us, absolutely not. In part because the deployment of God, er, Nature, in the form of wood is for many people too heavy. This is not to advocate for painting FLW’s woodwork white, but surely there is plenty of room for God and Nature in our homes, just not necessarily blanketing overhead.“As an agnostic, I don’t expect to find Nature in my house, though I would be happy to find Her there. I may not know whether God exists, but I do know that a white ceiling contributes to a nice clean space — and we all know what cleanliness is next to.”
Urban Casa added this to Try These 5 Color Palettes for a Midcentury Modern Look
2. Chartreuse and gray. This is a cool, fresh duo that will instantly add midcentury chic to your decor. In this photo, the bright yellowish-green sofa forms a cheerful counterpart to the serene gray wall. When brought together in a room with architectural details such as an angled ceiling and glass window walls, the style is unmistakably midcentury modern.
