@maringel, how did your pantry turn out? I have the exact same dimensions that I could use for a pantry...3' x 5.' Please let me know if it's usable or what drawbacks you've encountered. Thanks!

@cath_del, we haven't built yet :) we're still looking for land, but I'll let you know when we do! It has to be enough space though, right?? I do think I'll shorten the back wall shelves to 6-8 inches, running all the way up- giving that extra half foot of walking space might make all the difference!

I can give some advice; any one to built a pantry should know what kind of things want to fit in, it gives a pity good idea of the size of deep shelves is needed, especially working with small spaces. for instance, if you going to fit can food, you will use the medium size, or big ones according to your needs, then measure it with can food close to wall but leaving a little bit of clearance. If other side is for big platters, take one big platter or tray or even cereal box the big one, then measure it for the deep similar way to the cans food I mentioned before. It is very easy this way; Same way can be measured shelves for shoes and boots.
        God bless every one,
        Mary Davis.
