Hi, love how everything works perfect... can you please tell me what colour the house exterior is?

Did they fill in an old pool?

Sorry for the confusion, but no this is not an area where a pool was once located.

This is a side yard 'Courtyard' where we lowered the patio 12" from the house. This was done for two main reasons. First, with outdoor 'Fireplace rooms', the goal is to provide a warm cozy area that feels a bit nestled in and a bit private. By simply lowering the area by 12", it helps to separate this patio from the house, promoting that cozy / nestled-in feeling... which could not be done without the huge help of the trees and plantings. The second reason for the 'sunken' courtyard patio is wind control. The house is located very close to the ocean and the afternoon / evening breezes that can really cool the air.

So the combination of using the Tree's and plantings, the Fireplace & fountains, and by lowering the patio 12", all help to promote the design & atmosphere the clients desired.

Just F.Y.I: The Pool for this project is in the rear yard.

Where can I get this fireplace? Is it a kit, or did you build it yourselves?

Is the floor slate or quartzite?

The stone is a quartzite called 'Woodbridge', purchased from Walker Zanger (approx $5.75 sq ft). It is extremely durable and does not require much up keep, if any. I can highly recommend it.

          I hope this helps!

How does this quartzite compare to Pennsylvania Blue stone in durability? Thanks!

Texas Mountain Laurel is the tree to the right by the fireplace - extremely difficult to get in California - 2 week quarantine but a stunning tree

I've been looking for Texas Mountain Laurel trees here in California and I've just about given up. I didn't realize there was a quarantine - that helps explain it. Any idea who might be able to provide these trees?
