We are renovating our kitchen with white cabinets and o.r.bronze hardware, is o.r.bronze faucet too much dark

  • narmymom
Hi - just saw this site would love some feedback if anyone has time. I'm redoing a kitchen with black countertops with subtle gold specks, pale yellow walls, white cabinets like the ones in the picture on this site. Bronze or brushed nickel for the hardware. I love both and I see from the picture above that you don't have to have the faucet the same color as the pulls. Someone mentioned that it might appear to be too much if bronze is used on white cabinets. I thought that if I were painting the walls yellow it would even it out. Any ideas? Also, I keep hearing that stainless if going out. What will it be replaced with?
    Thanks!!

Thanks for all the input houzzers! And we apologize for not responding sooner! There is definitely no rule of thumb on what finishes to use, it is all dependent upon personal preference. This also means that you can use different finishes throughout the whole home. For example, here is a home where we used several different finishes throughout the whole home: New French Country

Our cabinet maker only allows Sherwin Williams Paints. We have less bright lit kitchen. The color we are considering now is Agreeable Gray for the cabinet color and then glazed. Trying to find a color between its lower color choice and Agreeable Gray to get still a warm gray but a higher LRV. Any tips on finding that through Sherwin Williams appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for your question Steven! We would suggest bringing in your paint swatches you have (Agreeable Gray and any other colors you are considering) to a local paint store and ask an associate to help pick the color you are more specifically looking for. Then, please make sure to test on your wall with small patch of the paint color in day and night lighting to make sure that is your final color choice.

Thanks for the great question slmp45! When choosing marble for a countertop surface, there are a few things you want to consider. Ultimately, the final decision is totally up to the consumer!
Marble Countertops are chosen for their classic and timeless beauty-they offer a "white, brightness" that may be very difficult to find in a granite or soapstone. Marble also has a natural "cooling" quality. If you work directly on your countertop surface much of the time, marble does not conduct heat very well and therefore could make projects like working with pastry directly on the surface quite easy and fun! It is also very widely available and at a more inexpensive rate than other natural stones. Most stone yards will have a selection of marbles to choose from.
Unfortunately, marble countertops are prone to scratching and staining, but this would be something to keep under consideration when you are deciding between countertop selections.
However, a "honed" finish might help hide any scratches that are possible to happen. A "honed" finish provides a more matte, less shiny finish that comes from abrading the stone.

    Best of Luck!

  • PRO
    Martha O'Hara Interiors
Thanks for the great question westielove! And thanks also to Julie for a great suggestion! We would also suggest to you to take a look at soapstone as well as other options like a granite. All countertops will have their pros and cons, so make sure to do your research.

We are not sure exactly what you are looking for, but don't be afraid to include some color or texture variation into your kitchen. Things don't have to match...in fact, it is extremely difficult to match everything! But, a little variation will create visual interest, so some grey coloring might look just fine. We would suggest using the help of an associate at the countertop showroom you are working with to help you pick out the best option for you.

    Hope this helps!
