I love the arrangement of the plates hung above the fireplace! are they antique or thrift store finds?

the glazed pottery pieces are antique, 18th century spanish. if you find them in a thrift store --buy as many as possible!!

the floors are french white oak in a fumed color called "flemish grey". the floor has an oil wax finish with gives it a lovely dull glow. i'm glad that you like it!

What is the Fireplace surround?

  • PRO
    David Michael Miller Associates
the fireplace surround is built of pieces of french limestone, used from architectural blocks used elsewhere in this house. the feel is primitive and rustic, and avoids feeling contrived or fake.

Blue pottery wall collection

- Source?

    David Michael Miller Associates
the glazed pottery collection used in this interior originated from spain, and is typically 18th or 19th century. the collection was put together from a number of sources who deal in antique ceramics. the primary source for this specific collection has retired. you can still find this type of glazed pottery, but you have to dig around in antique dealers who cover the spanish countryside. these are somewhat rare.

thanks for the question. color, especially neutrals, are tricky, and without being in the space, and seeing the quality of light in the space, it is too tricky to recommend a color long distance. sorry i could not be of more help. david.

Where can I purchase the coffee table?

we took a cocktail table and gave it to our local finisher to create a more layered, weathered finish. this was a one off thing. it looks perfect in the room with the rustic beams and plaster.

Where these custom built or can they be purchased. If so, from who.

    - I like the fact that they could be used for sitting, reading a book or beds.

they were designed and built for this project. the cabinet on the left side facing of the fireplace actually conceals a tv lift.

What is the color on the walls? Gorgeous!

      David Michael Miller Associates
the walls are an integral color plaster finish by a local plaster company. the mix includes coarse river sand and some subtle pigment, and is trowelled on walls like traditional plaster.
