How are the ropes secured at the top? - It looks like u-bolt clamps or something pinching on the ropes. IMO, that's going to wear and weaken in the long term. It would be so much better and last so much longer if there were proper knots at the top loops, too. A figure-eight loop would be strong and look nice (although it might compress under the load and look less nice, but still be very strong), or a bowline with a Yosemite tie-off. Overall a beautiful piece. Just suggesting a way to make it even better if you do another one.

The U bolts at the Top are there so you can adjust the rope length... Over time it may stretch... So a knot may not be practical...

It would be just as easy (or easier) to adjust a properly tied knot. A bowline + yosemite tie off unties or adjusts easily even if it's been pulled tight for years.

2. Hanging bed swing. There’s nothing that invites lingering on the front porch like a porch swing — unless it’s a hanging bed swing, like this one in Charleston, South Carolina. The line between outdoor furniture and indoor furniture design has recently started to blur, and this cushy outdoor bed just might persuade someone to spend the night outside.
