Elegant enclosed living room library photo in Burlington with beige walls

Cozy Living Room

The built-in bookcases in this living room help provide much needed storage in a small home while helping to bounce light into the room from the windows. At night the books are illuminated by the monopoint track fixtures. Renovation/Addition. Rob Karosis Photography

Yes, that is the 73" Bantam Sofa, sage with coffee legs, from Design Within Reach.
    Hope that helps!

This house has radiant heat, but you could do a tall base to your bookcases and have slats which allow the heat to flow. This is one example with a deep bench on top:

Well, this is a longer room than this image shows, but it is 23'-5 1/2" x 15'-2" wide and the windows are 33 inches wide by 55 inches tall.

What are the paints and direction of the natural light?

  • PRO
    Smith & Vansant Architects PC
The paints in this home are from the Donald Kaufman Color Collection (by Pratt & Lambert). The walls are DKC-16 in a latex eggshell finish, the ceiling is DKC-29 in a latex accolade flat finish, and the trim and built-ins are DKC-51 in an alkyd satin finish. The Lake Placid winter Olympic poster is essentially south. The dramatic lighting effect here is not all natural light, some is enhanced by our photographers studio lights.

Thanks for the nice comments. The house is relatively small. The living room is in the original cape and the interior width finishes out at 15' - 2" and the overall width is 23' - 6", but the living room is only about 12 feet of that depth.

Thank you for the answer! I must have missed that response from the designer. I searched the page for any comments containing "DK" but came up empty.
    • Sonomamama Cruz
Hermitess: A friend owns a paint store and he says this happens all the time. People see a magazine pic and because of the lighting or photographers printing technique the color is changed. Also, the 'questions' section has the paint color.
