Is there any paint or wall treatment behind the glass tiles? I'm ordering this tile for my kitchen now.

- I wasn't sure if it was just applied to a plain wall or if you need to paint a certain color behind the glass tiles to get this effect. Thanks!

Hi! I'm away from the office but wanted to let you know that all of the tile specifications you've requested can be found if you scroll through some of the questions related to this project. The cabinets are Ben Moore Dove White and yes, the granite is Kashmir White. Cheers, Sarah

How expensive is the backsplash per sq ft?

    - How expensive is the backsplash per sq ft?

    • Jodishi
Yes, it is different. Full disclosure - my tile guy said it was horrible difficult to install. Know that it will not lay perfectly flat and even like machine manufactured tile. My tile guy said this was obviously an artisan tile, and I love the effect now - good blend of modern with the feel of handmade. All that said, he also commented that because of the way they are shaped, he had the least waste of any job he's ever been on. So that was nice. :)
    • Jodishi
I would also HIGHLY recommend making a grout board before choosing your grout. Any grout - even bright white - turns the edges of the tile grey in color (because it's glass). But some darker grouts do it even more, so try a few before you decide. :) Because my cabinets are grey, I ended up LOVING the grey edges.

Where can I buy the grout Hydrogrout #152? It sure looks beige or sandy color to me. Is it really white?

It's a perfect complement to the tile in this space and got a thumbs up from our client . I would recommend asking a local tile installer or supplier in your area about where you can get this grout. Good luck on your project!

Just a quick note: Ceasarstone is a brand of quartz, so there are others to choose from (lke Pental Chroma). Quartz products are often less "busy" than granite and don't offer some of the same finishes (like the leather you mentioned). It is also a great choice for a more modern aesthetic because it is often more uniform in color. For your price point (not knowing the aesthetic you are going for) you might be able to get away with quartz on the perimeter and granite on the island if it is tastefully done. Granite and other similar stone surfaces (soapstone, marble) offer a richer stone feel to a kitchen, but the functionality and durability of the quartz products are worth considering as well. Your water spots are most likely a sealing issue - you can have it maintained by a local granite installer.

In our Mercer Island Overlook photos here ( http://www.houzz.com/projects/55646/Mercer-Island-Overlook ), the island is granite and the surrounding counters are CHROMA quartz, because this homeowner wanted a quiet perimeter look and feel. This home is in the same price range as yours, so the pairing of this surface for the property value was heavily weighed. In the end, it was the homeonwers choice to install it and she has no regrets!

how does the cost of caesar stone compare to granite in general?

    • townetile
Huh, not sure where you live, and really, Baltic Brown? That color has been dead for 10 years outside of the midwest. Now for real numbers... Forget exotics, I took the first 27 colors in Northern California's largest slab distributors price list, averaged them out at a an average margin for our industry and that number was $1,559.00 per slab. If you take the average price of a Caesarstone slab at the same margin it runs $1,132.00. This says that Caesarstone is on average 28% LOWER in cost, by the book and by the numbers. This does not even take into account that Caesarstone and Cambria are the most expensive of the Quartz products, most of the others like Silestone, Quantra, and Cortstone are even less in cost. I suppose being the Granite Grannies, pumping Quartz products is probably not a good business model, but lets at least be honest to the consumer.

This kitchen features LED strip lighting. Here's a houzz.com blog about the types available: http://www.houzz.com/photos/kitchen-lighting-and-cabinet-lighting Overall, strip LED lights offer more even illumination of your surfaces than puck lights, so it will depend on how you use your space and what type of budget you have. Best of luck!
