I love this kitchen! I have the specifics of the Hawthorne yellow walls (BM #HC-4). Would you tell me the paint information for the cream-colored cabinets?

thanks, I should have asked for the length as well, and if there is seating at the other end
  • PRO

No seat at the other end, just cookbook shelves. Can't remember the length off hand, somewhere between 8 ft and 10 ft.

What color and brand is the yellow wall paint?

  • Ducktuck
Beautiful yellow. Does anyone know of a similar color?

I checked again and found the color spec. It's BM #HC-4 "Hawthorne Yellow", one of the Historic Colors.

Thanks. Can you tell me how many countertop inches in that tight corner (not to the wall, but to the corner, looks like no more than 4" which is what i have in my current plan). Again, i have 2 kids who are constantly around the range when i cook, so was concerned that the tight corner would be an issue. Is there a pull-out on the base to the left or is that just a filler panel with know and hinges? If cabinet/pull-out do you have approx size?
  • PRO
    Felhandler/ Steeneken Architects
It's about 7" or so with a small 4" wide cabinet door. They store cookie sheets in that cabinet.

Thanks for your feedback -just what I was thinking!

The nice thing about having a sink at the window is you can look out of the window to the green view beyond. Putting the sink against a wall seems sad.

Thanks for your comments! The island is about 30" wide and the clearance is around 48", maybe slightly less.

The flooring is solid tongue & groove quarter-sawn white oak with a medium brown stain and a satin polyurethane finish.

No. We used only the manufacturer's exhaust hood insert with the filters and lights, not a complete hood, in our custom design hood

I would hate to paint the maple trim. If it were me, I would leave the maple and instead repaint the panelling or the the cabinets so they work with the floor and don't pop too much. It's a lot of work but you will be living with this a long time so it's worth it. And mixing brass and copper is fine.
  • spiveypugford
Thank you so much: just in time! The contractor just called to get my decision on painting. Everyone is telling me to paint all trim, and I needed an objective opinion, especially from an expert.

how does this hold up to heat, such as straight from stove to countert

  • PRO
    Felhandler/ Steeneken Architects

It holds up very well to heat. It is a volcanic rock slab with a baked on glaze similar to a glazed ceramic tile so even the hottest pot does not harm the finish.

This is solid tongue & groove quarter/rift-sawn white oak strip flooring. It was stained in the field with a medium brown stain and finished with 3 coats of polyurethane.

Do The base cabinet open ends to the L of the sink and to the R of the range have a vertical fascia that extends to the floor beneath the rounded profile moulding? If so, how does it come around to the front of the cabinet? Does it come around and end with a decorative furniture style curve as it ends, or something else? On the other hand, if the base cabinet open ends have the toe kick recessed beneath the cabinets, is that the same amount as on the front of the base cabinet run or less than that? I've looked at a lot of kitchens on Houzz to collect ideas for how to do my own kitchen. This is definitely one of my favorites. Now to figure out those base cabinet open end toe kicks.... This is one of the the last pieces of the puzzle for how my kitchen pulls together. I truly appreciate your input.

I believe this Kitchen had closed ends on the kicks with a moulded profile facing forward. That's the traditional look that creates a "foot" to the cabinet at the corners that I think you're describing.

They are more expensive than a stone countertop which makes sense because they are a lavastone countertop that has a ceramic glaze applied to it and then it is baked in a kiln. The extra steps involved add to the cost. If you are interested in an exct cost for your project, contact the US sales rep for Pyrolave via their website.
