You are correct it is a Red Oak floor. It may have been a natural stain just to even the coloring. I should have an answer posted for you on Monday.

it is so beautiful. We're about to make our wood counter top. could you tell me if this is an actual butcher block or just a wooden built counter top? we don't want to pay for a butcher block, but it seems like most pictures on houzz are butcher blocks. is maple a good wood to use, and what woods would you suggest to use? thank you for your response!

This is a wooden countertop made from walnut. I suppose most "butcher blocks" are end grain or edge grain wooden countertops. For this type of kitchen I would argue that a wooden, plank countertop is a more fitting choice...but that is just an opinion. Maple is a great species for tops. If you are making it yourselves, the plank style would be the easiest to build. An edge grain top would be the next easiest to achieve. I would not recommend making an end grain top unless you fairly well-honed woodworking skills. Good luck.

i don't mind the legs of this island especially since ours will be large and maybe need the support.

I like how the actual cabinets in the island are smaller so seating can go around
