What type of brick was used on this house? How do you get this look?

Need help painting brick

- Is the brick painted?

What is the application? Can it be done to an already built house. I have plain red brick and would like a more antique, distressed look
  • leeler516
The house was already painted white when we bought it. We had our painters lightly power wash and hand scrap the brick to get this look. I'm not sure if that is the usual application, but I think our house is one of the better looking distressed brick homes I've seen.

Shutters: Farrow & Ball, "Hague Blue" #30 Finish: Exterior Eggshell; The trim was 'match existing'... but you may want to look at Benjamin Moore "Soft Chamois" #OC 13

ROMABIO / Interior & Exterior Mineral Based Paints

You can also use BioCalce Classico limewash paint to get this look easily if you already have unpainted brick. It's a one coat process and you just need a garden hose or pressure washer to get the white wash look - romabio.com/limewash.

            Hi Anne,

If you're needing help coordinating colors for your trim I recommend going to Sherwin-Williams and looking at their HGTV brochures. They have around 20 colors in each brochure, all of which coordinate with one another. It really helps to use these tools to find primary and accent colors. I recommend the brochure titled "Neutral Nuance" and "Traditional Twist" they also have a good one titled "Inspired Exteriors" which will give you a great look at how color combinations look on different home exteriors. I always start with these brochures when helping my customers plan for colors. If you are still having trouble after a look at these a reputable painter in your area can help you find a designer, and some Sherwin-Williams stores keep designers on staff that can visit your home for a small fee and help you pick out color. Good Luck on your hunt for the perfect look!

Is the brick painted or manufactured? If so, what color is it?
