asking about the design of this home office: or others like it. How deep should the small shelves above the desk be?

I know this is a little late... but it looks like there could be paperbacks on the left side, so I would guess these are 6" deep.

Depends how deep the desk is. I designed a desk that has shelves above the desk that hold a printer and are 14" deep but the desk itself is 30" deep so it can handle it. The shelves in this photo look about 4 to 6 only. Pretty

I am drooling over this efficient modern work space. It is open to the family life taking place around it, but is also a specialized area where concentrated work can get done. Custom design work is key to getting high performance from the smallest space — and it looks really good too.

1. One mobile calendar. It doesn't really matter whether you prefer a paper or digital version; the important thing is that you stick with one calendar system, preferably for everyone in the house. Google Calendar is a great, flexible, mobile option you can access from home or on the road.

Like how this work area is in a hallway and not in the kitchen but still,a useable workspace. Want to make sure this is not highly visible to visitors but still close and accessible to kitchen
