storage issues - my daughter and I love this look. But she also wants a desk to study, and a place to sit for the use of makeup. I need lots of storage. Would like to use those pink rectangles as boxes that could open to store things behind. The worse of all she has a printer in her room. I just fell I can't fulfill all her needs in the space and still looking gorgeous and free of clutter. Please help. She is going to highschool in August, and I would like to make her room for these last four years with me.

invest in nice built-ins made for your needs. Worth every penny you spend. Now you can show off and or hide what you want. This room was easy for us to copy. Remember it doesn't have to be the the same nightstand from the same store or vendor. It's the idea and the design your coping not everything down to it's final nail color. We had so much fun with this room and it looks the same as in the picture. We shopped Target, BB&B, Lamps Plus, Wayfair, Overstock.com and found a good match for the decal at Uppercase Living. We hired a cabinet maker who built much needed storage and a desk.

Forgot to mention My husband and I made the mirror artwork from wood and trim then painted. We also made the headboard using a sparkly vinel shimmy silver fabric from Jo Ann's fabric and craft store.

If you can find a stencil you can use paint. You can also use a decal which will give you a hand painted look.

I am going to paint one on canvas for my daughters room. Acrylics are easy to use, wash up easily and dry very fast. Canvas (stretched over a wood frame) can be purchased at craft stores.

Making the mirror wall art was pretty easy. I painted plywood and added trim and placed the mirrors. Ta-Da! The trim gave it a more expensive and finished look. We copied this room and found everything pretty fast and easy, or very close to match. The stores are showing and selling a lot of grey, silver now so it's not that hard to find what you need. We decided to use black nightstands with mirror fronts, crystal knobs and black tassels. On the other side of the wall we had white built-in cabinets made that gave us tons of storage. and a desk area. Added a hot pink office chair for fun. My teenage daughter loves it

Uppercase Living (vinyl decals) sells several damask embellishments. They are very easy to apply and look as though they were hand painted and there are over 50 colors to choose from. You can check out UL's website and order online: http://jeand.uppercaseliving.net >click on Products tab, click Shop> in search box type "damask". I included a couple UL designs below.

I agree. But the devil is in the details--a lot of meticulous attention obviously went into each component of this space. But I'm sure the result was worth it!

Abdolutly! :D and for that I do not mean that the result was bad. On the contrary! That something so simple can be so magnificent beautifull...

Red toned woods would be the natural compliment to a green wall. Try running the wood across the width of the room to visually enlarge the space. By running it length-wise you accentuate the rectangle shape.

Choosing the right paint color really all depends on the look you're going for and how much light the room gets. One thought with dark chocolate is to paint the walls a much lighter so that you get some nice contrast. But if you look at the photo that you posted with your picture, you'll see that they've done the opposite and the result is very soothing. Pops of color add some excitment and interest. DEFINITELY plan on curtains. They finish off the room. Houzz readers--I'll bet you've got some great advice to add!

What Houzz contributors are saying:

Shawn Gauthier added this to Teens' Rooms: The Haven Grows Up
Amp up the glamour with magenta and silver. Add black and white accents to ground the color scheme. This space is full of spunky teenage personality.
Becky Harris added this to Design Details: Scrolls and Curlicues
In looking into the history of the scroll in architecture and design, I came across "acanthus," a scrolled ancient Greek column topping shape that was inspired by the acanthus plant. An oversized abstraction gives this classical shape an update.

What Houzzers are commenting on:

imakarov added this to toshas room
Grey and prime color _ can be red
johnsuzannemiller added this to johnsuzannemiller's ideas
quilted bed frame drawers & mirrors
Jennifer Kozlow added this to Lilly's Room Ideas
One thing I would like to have in my bedroom is the big portrait or piece of art above my bed.
