Excerpt via our website ` "This little cottage was designed and built for storage and gardening purposes. A sanctuary away from the main house, set among big white pines, close to the perennial gardens. Clients have reported spending evenings on the porch sipping red wine and watching wild turkeys forage in the fields. The building is essentially an 8×12 saltbox with an added four-foot porch. A dormer is attached to the front and extended out over the porch. The additional gable detail enhances the design and adds character and charm by breaking up the rooflines. Four opening barn sash windows, a single 3’ door and a workbench give this cottage its uniqueness. The building in the picture has been finished off with special touches; including optional white cedar shingle siding and a set of stairs to compensate for the slope of the site. This cottage would make a great backyard retreat, bunkhouse, or special hide away." Available as diy plans ($50), cabin kits, or fully assembled.

The backyard is designed around a traditional rectangular pool, with custom-sized fired adobe pavers crafted in Mexico specifically for the project. The large steel sash window and door assembly, 12 feet tall and 12 feet wide, offers a luxurious view of the pool courtyard, and the view continues to the lushly vegatated Reatta Wash and up to the mountains beyond. The house wraps around the pool area, creating an "estate" feel that is more commonly in nearby residences of far grander sizes. The tones of three-coat stucco wall finish blend perfectly with the pavers, water, and desert vegetation to create an authentic and satisfying environment, well suited to Scottsdale's climate. We worked with Jeff Lindfors, an amazing landscape designer here in LA, to create an indoor/outdoor feeling for this home. The shape of the pool was remodeled to respond to the architecture and 60' wide pocket doors. The art is from the Owner's private collection. It's great to sit outside at night and listen to the Hollywood Bowl concerts happening below.

This pool and spa combination has an Infinity Edge. The spa is raised slightly with a Negative Edge that overflows into the infinity gutter system. Both inside coping and tile are Black Absolute Granite with a honed finish. Outside coping is 2’ x2’ Bluestone pavers and both pool and spa are finished with a Black Galaxy Pebblefina.
