We built our home 1 year ago. I fell in love with danby marble. We have it in our kitchen, guest bath and laundry. I had all the marble sealed with Clearstone. They guarantee for 15 years. After 1 year I could not be happier with the marble and it looks just like it did the day we moved in. BTW I did not insist on having the laundry room counters being marble but we had enough left over to use it. What a bonus!

susanbp are you still pleased with the clearstone coating? Ive heard it can look a little yellowish on the white marble

The island is 44"wide from extended corner to corner and 40" wide in the narrow er section. The island is 95" long and 37 1/2" tall. The extended corners measure 9 1/2" long on each side

Yes, I too struggled with that - perhaps try quartz

Glazed. crackled 2" x 3.5' subway tile- go fo a color blend with calcutta - to the lightest or most dominant white in the stone - being mindful of other surfaces in space cabinets, walls etc
  • crystaldawn
    Who makes this subway tile?

Actually Honed Calcutta Marble is used throughout this kitchen for the counter tops. You certainly can use Ceasar stone - which has some great choices very "marble", if that is the look you are after and basically in the same price range. Laminate could work as well and be less costly. Thank you for asking.

The barstools came from Home Depot. A while ago. The last time I checked they no longer carry them. Sorry about that.

Marble s a commitment. You have to be quick and thorough about getting spills cleaned up. Honed marble is more forgiving because of the dull finish but it etches and scratches just the same.

Having marble professionally cleaned periodically will restore the finish.

if you want "perfect"marble counter tops it is not for tha faint hearted. Marble upkeep requires diligence unless you are going for the patina look - kitchen counters are not the same thing as cathedral steps in Rome. Use marble in a less traffic area like foyer bath, master bath - if you expect marble to perform

ike a granite - it wil lot.
