trogers44 go easy on us it's not that bad here! :)

Is the wall you are talking about a full wall or does it have an opening? Either way it can have bookcases without taking away from the feature wall which is the fireplace wall. Just be sure that the fireplace wall has a lovely painting to command the viewers eye there instead of behind to the bookcases. Even if the wall has an opening, I love to see built ins built over doors and windows. One of the beach homes I worked with had a lovely room with built ins surrounding the windows, we made window seats and upholstered them which made such cosy reading spaces.

I love books in rooms and there has been some almost heated discussions on houzz about that topic, goes to show how important they are in our lives!

To keep it from looking dark go with the painted white book cases as shown in your inspiration pic. I think the stained wood is what makes a room feel more dark and clubby. Both are great looks; just depends on your goals for your space.

While I’m not an advocate of mounting TVs above the fireplace, it works for this room. The different forms of seating and the arrangement creates a cozy conversation area and leaves sight lines unobstructed to both the fireplace and TV. The screen is big, but the arrangement clearly communicates that the room is for socializing first and watching TV second. Hire an interior designer to help with your furniture layout

With no other leather furniture in the room, adding a touch of it via the two small stools adds a den or club-room ambiance. They are small enough to move easily and would make perfect footrests pulled in front of the chairs.
