Austin Stone Exterior

There are 2 buildings, 4 units total. Keeping within City of Austin regulations and impervious cover restrictions, we were limited to 1600-1700 square feet per unit. Each unit boasts an open floor plan concept, lots of natural light with high windows and modern styling. All four units sold out soon after the first open house. They are rated 3 stars with the Austin Energy Green program.

The bridged entry leads directly into a glass-walled Living area that overlooks the expansive golf course below. Located on a very steep lot, this house circuitously responds to the hillside landscape, allowing for amazing views from almost every room in the house. Set along a winding stretch of the Guadalupe River, this small guesthouse was designed to take advantage of local building materials and methods of construction. With concrete floors throughout the interior and deep roof lines along the south facade, the building maintains a cool temperature during the hot summer months. The home is capped with a galvanized aluminum roof and clad with limestone from a local quarry.

Conceived as a remodel and addition, the final design iteration for this home is uniquely multifaceted. Structural considerations required a more extensive tear down, however the clients wanted the entire remodel design kept intact, essentially recreating much of the existing home. The overall floor plan design centers on maximizing the views, while extensive glazing is carefully placed to frame and enhance them. The residence opens up to the outdoor living and views from multiple spaces and visually connects interior spaces in the inner court. The client, who also specializes in residential interiors, had a vision of ‘transitional’ style for the home, marrying clean and contemporary elements with touches of antique charm. Energy efficient materials along with reclaimed architectural wood details were seamlessly integrated, adding sustainable design elements to this transitional design. The architect and client collaboration strived to achieve modern, clean spaces playfully interjecting rustic elements throughout the home.
