My ceiling is 7'4". I think the color palette, lighting, and streamlined furnishings are what appeal to me. Boy, I sure would like an extra 6" of height though!

I recently worked on a high end condo where some of the ceilings were 7'. We used track lights and monopoints (like a track light, but it's a single head on a small connection to the ceiling), all LEDs. It was lovely and very contemporary.

Nope, it is NOT the Glenwood from Sofamart. All you have to do is look at the back cushions on the two ends and see how the glenwood cushion partially wraps over the sofa arms. No so in the Houzz photo! Also the Glenwood has a funky horizontal line in the fabric all along the bottom front under the seat. Again, not so in the Houzz sofa. Definitely different sofas.

and NOPE, it's not the Milford either from Norwalk. Also - easy to see by looking at the Milford back cushions with the pointy corners. No such pointy corners in the back cushions on the Houzz photo. Another reason to choose the Houzz sofa - the cushions are beautifully designed; not overstuffed, puffy, typical-mediocre-style, loose back cushions. Still searching for the sofa in the Houzz photo....

What Houzz contributors are saying:

Laura Gaskill added this to 11 Ways to Finesse Your Finished Basement
Create zones for different purposes. A large basement can easily handle several activities, as long as you make smart use of the space. Brainstorm the things you hope to use your finished basement for, and then map out your ideas in a floor plan.Style notes: A fresh, light color palette and excellent lighting make this basement feel like an extension of the house, rather than an afterthought. A sofa and an upholstered ottoman define the lounge zone, while an Expedit unit from Ikea corrals craft supplies and toys near a low work table on the opposite wall.
Shawn Gauthier added this to 10 Tips for Decorating a Renovated Basement
2. Use can lighting. “Lighting is everything when it comes to achieving a great result from your basement remodel,” says Hullinger. He suggests using small can lights finished with a clear or haze finish alzak trim kit, which allows the can to fade into the ceiling. “Five-inch cans can provide great coverage,” he says.
Michelle Gage | Interior Designer added this to 10 Ideas for an Anything-but-Boring Basement
7. Take on renters. If you’re in search of a little extra income, consider renovating your basement and listing it for rent. Create separate areas for eating, lounging and sleeping, and enjoy the extra paper lining your pocket.
