Bath Room Repair and Remodel
Modern Bathroom, Toronto
This is a "Before" photo.
The original objective was to remove the subway tile from the shower side of the window to the brick wall. Make any repairs to the wall sheathing needed. Install new ceramic tile. Clean up and re-use the shower base and enclosure.
The project evolved into a major repair job.
It included a mold abatement. Removal of half the floor and floor joists. Replacing and adding wall studs. Spray foaming the crawl space under the washroom, and the exposed washroom walls. Replacing the bathroom plumbing.
The cause of all the water damage was a combination of a leaking shower base. Improper wall sheathing, and a toilet that was never seated properly. The wax gasket was never compressed.
We used a product call Green-E-Board to sheath the walls. Fashioned in wall storage. Coated the sheathing in the shower area with Red Guard. Installed 18"x 18" tile. A new shower base and glass enclosure.
The floor was rebuilt and tiled.
The ceiling and walls were repainted using Benjamin Moore's Aura, Bath and Spa paint.
