Office SpaceIf you don’t have room for an office at home but want extra workspace, a desk at the foot of your bed might be the answer. One that has drawers will also provide extra storage.

Desk or vanity. If you are space constrained and really could use a desk, consider the foot of the bed. There are pieces that function as a desk and a vanity in one. Try to find a piece with an open space underneath so a stool can be neatly tucked under.

A bed with a footboard provides a unique opportunity for furniture placement. Here a footboard with exaggerated height creates a backdrop for a petite desk. When I have a bed with a footboard, I usually make the bedding a little shorter in front to so the top layer doesn’t bunch up.More: The pros and cons of making your bed

Coco Fiber and SeaweedCoco-mat produces mattresses layered with an interesting array of natural materials including coco fiber, natural rubber, seaweed, and Oeko-Tex certified organic cotton and wool. These mattresses are a variation on the "stuffed" type, with no innersprings. The company also makes furniture, (like the bed and nightstand shown here).Product pick: Atlas mattress, $2,980 (queen size)
