    5. Blue and Beautiful Natalie Myers of Veneer Designs created this laundry room for young newlyweds who wanted a home filled with personality. Originally the room was used as a small bedroom. Graphic blue-and-white tile on the floor and backsplash add refreshing zip to the design. The custom flat-front cabinets are white oak. A bar for hang-drying adds function. 5. Blue and BoldDesigner: Natalie Myers of Veneer DesignsLocation: Bel Air neighborhood of Los AngelesHomeowners’ request. The young newlywed couple wanted a family home full of life and personality. Designer Natalie Myers converted a small bedroom into this spacious laundry room. “Knowing that this would become their family home for at least 10 years, and that they weren’t worried about keeping the design neutral for the future owners, was liberating,” designer Natalie Myers says. “We had fun with color, scale and new materials that were fresh to the market.” Special features. Graphic blue-and-white tile on the floor and backsplash. White oak flat-front custom cabinets. Bar for hanging and drying clothes. Deep storage drawers. Soaking sink. “Uh-oh” moment. “A happy accident was that we ran out of the Heath backsplash tile we were intending to use to match the kitchen, but we had leftover Eskayel tile,” Myers says. “So we ran it up the wall as the backsplash, and it looks great.”
