How do they keep bugs out? I've always wondered this.

you have to go to another photo to see how bugs are kept out. there is a screen made by mosquito curtains that is barely visible on the left side of the folding glass wall system in this photo.

It looks like it has a brown undertone. is that correct?

It's mostly grey/black. I don't believe there are any brown undertones.

7. Pool ViewIf you’re lucky enough to have a swimming pool in the backyard, why not make the most of it with an expansive glass wall? In this space from architectural firm Drawing Dept, the kitchen counter is positioned so that you can see the entire pool deck while chopping veggies or pouring icy drinks.Tip: Live in a hot climate? If central air conditioning is a must all summer, a wide wall opening like this probably won’t make much sense. Instead, go for expansive windows and a glass door.

The driving idea for the kitchen’s design was its relationship to the outdoors, including the pool and fire pit. “It’s a three-season, indoor-outdoor connection,” says Nikki. “But even in winter, we get the full benefits of this well-designed space.”

Note the overhang that covers a bit of the deck. Worth considering.
