Bespoke Beauty Contemporary Dining Room, Raleigh

Custom locally built dining table designed by For a family wanting a dramatic entry and dining room, but with requirements that it be an indestructible venue for weekly brunches with guest lists including small children! Our first solution was to create a contrasting border integral to the hardwood floor, in lieu of an area rug. From there, we introduced furniture in resilient materials such as fiberglass chairs and a locally made custom table of Heather's design in reclaimed hardwood, steel and acrylic. Luxurious drapes, dramatic accessories and a chandelier with glimmer added the required panache.

Christine Tusher added this to Objects of Desire: 8 Gorgeous Globe Light Fixtures
Arteriors Home Caviar Fixed Glass Cluster This chandelier not only glimmers when turned on, but the perforated cone within each globe throws light throughout the room much like a gemstone would. The fixture’s designer, Laura Kirar, was inspired by elements of nature, including the sea, bubbles and eucalyptus seeds. She calls it “jewelry for the home.” How it’s made: Each glass globe is mouth blown in a steel mold. The glass is not tempered, and the metal cones will not patinate. Just be careful when cleaning the globes or changing light bulbs, as the glass is very delicate. When it works: It’s best for spacious areas where other fixtures can be dimmed to maximize this spectacular feature.Tip: Heather Garrett Design used the chandelier to add glimmer to this space. Pair this dramatic piece with minimalist furnishings for maximum effect.Source: Available through a variety of vendors, including HouzzLearn more about the versatility of globe pendants
Becky Harris added this to Room of the Day: An Elegant North Carolina Dining Room
The dining table is a North Carolina original through and through. Garrett wanted to create something that celebrated North Carolina’s history in a contemporary way. She designed the table using local reclaimed pine that floats atop a clear acrylic base, and had it fabricated locally. She painted the existing wainscoting white to reinforce the table’s horizontal plane. “Everything is wipeable, bleachable, spongeable or Windex-able,” she says. Figuring a rug would have a tougher time taking on spills, Garrett left the easy-to-clean hardwood floor uncovered, allowing its dark-stained border to define the space. The molded plastic midcentury Eames side chairs can take heavy use, and their elegant Eiffel bases add to the mix of metals and interesting angles. Because she was mixing styles and eras, Garrett threw in the bust lamp for a nod to classical style. Table: custom, available via Heather Garrett Designs
Becky Harris added this to 10 Delightfully Eclectic Dining Rooms
10. Elegant and kidproof in North Carolina. Interior designer Heather Garrett’s clients didn’t believe they could have a stylish dining room that could stand up to their lively get-togethers and young children, but they were wrong. The luxe silk threads in the owners’ prayer rug (hanging on the wall) inspired her to infuse the room with deep reds and silvery and dark grays. Garrett designed an original table and had the reclaimed pine top and acrylic base fabricated locally. The clear table base allows the Eiffel-style bases of the Eames chairs to shine, while a cluster of glass bubbles hangs from a textured silver ceiling.
