          4. Choose supporting colors with the same strength. If you want to bring in additional color, choose equally bold hues for your other pieces. The bright red chair shown here would look a bit off-kilter next to a pastel blue ottoman, whereas this vibrant peacock-blue one stands up to it.

Big, wide-open architecture, a dainty footed sofa, a modern red chair, patterned curtains and a bold striped rug. The matching things in this room are those two white table lamps.

Vary the scale and style. Many designers suggest mixing at least three patterns in a space when going for a layered, eclectic look. This keeps the concept looking like an intentional design choice and not a mistake. Remember to select patterns in a wide variety of scales (think small, medium, large). Also select a variety of styles (think floral, stripe, chevron). Couch: vintage, Wertz Brothers; pillows: Colcha; rug: Weego Home

This room shows variety through its colors. There's a mix of different colors to makeup the comforting look that this room gives off.

This room is a good example of Variety, which is the second type of harmony. This room has a lot of mixed pieces, which if used incorrectly can appear messy and cluttered. If you use them correctly how this person has, they look nice and appear to go together. We see a mixture of modern, playful, and elegant pieces put together to create a lovely eclectic space using a variety of different things. It has a collected look.

Variety is the different types of design and colors in a room. This is an example of variety ,because the stripe carpet is different from the zig-zag curtains and the couch and table are different colors. I like this room, because it is different from most designs of living rooms.

This room has a variety of different patterns, colors, and textures. Variety is combining different styles and patterns together. The room uses different directions of lines, textures of fabric and colors to please the eye. This variety was done very well and isn't to overwhelming to the viewer.

Variety is combining different styles and materials together. This shows variety because the room uses different patterns like stripes and chevron, along with different colors like blue and red. I don't really care for this room much, i just saw that it demonstrated variety and used it.

Variety: Different designs, different colors, different moods in a room all represent variety. The use of red and blue as the attractions in this room show a difference and mark the room as not all entirely the same.
