Rain water is managed by the fact the the home is elevated off the ground. If you look closely you will see that the home is on pressure treated 10x10's. We also to great care to preserve the natural grade surrounding the home as well as the top soil.

The roofing is 26 Guage pre-weathered Galvalume (wwww.aaametalworks.com). The siding is James Hardie products. Hardie boards and batten strips.

you just answered my own question. Thanks a bunch. We have a 70's version, live in semi tropical and think its time it had a slight rethink regarding siding, of which there is thankfully not much. I'm guessing the siding would be suitable for dormer windows too.

These windows were manufactured by MW Windows. They were simulated divided lite (SDL) and had PVC sashes. -Mike

The cottage has 1197 sf heated and 240 sf of porches. It features two bedrooms and two baths. The cottage also features a geothermal heat pump, LED lighting and is Energy Star certified. The architect on this project was Historical Concepts (also on Houzz). They do incredible work. I would encourage you to take a look.

The lack of "spindles" was accomplished using square weave galvanized wire fabric with a 4" square opening. Available at www.mcnichols.com.

You call your local pest/termite control and have it sprayed before you move in. Any responsible homeowner would do this with a wood framed crawl space home !
