Traditional Bathroom, Austin

This master bath features a black granite countertop with two sinks facing each other. A two sided mirror hangs suspended between the sinks. The tile used is a wonderful series from American Olean called St. Germain. What is super nice about this tile is not only its good looks and affordable price, but the fact that it comes in a variety of useful sizes. On the floor I specified 12x12" tile, while the tub/shower wall was done in 6x24" tile, with accent rows of 1x2" mosaic. The mosaic was repeated on the tub front and shower floor. What gives the tile its contemporary styling is the way it was layed in stacks, with minimal design detailing. Simplicity is key for that modern look. The same tile could take on a more traditional look if it were layed differently. The tile is also available in 12 x 24" sizing, a size that has become very popular. Note that the large window looking out on the backyard has frosted glass on the lower half for, not only for privacy, but to allow the owners to view the sky. Instant weather report! Pendant lights worked perfectly on either size of the hanging mirrors.
