Hi - The natural Roman shade is from Hunter Douglas. (Many different styles, colors and levels of opacity available; can't remember the exact color of this shade but I will look through my records.)

Is the countertop granite or soapstone? What color please? Thank you!

This was very helpful and I appreciate the time you spent getting back to me. I do not know what your new kitchen looks like, but your old one is my favorite kitchen on Houzz! It is just perfect! The mud room/potting room is right up my alley, too! What type of counter top did you put in the new kitchen?

  • subeeskitchen

Thank you! I was very sad to have to leave that kitchen, but the new kitchen is almost done. (Will be similar yet different . . . ) Went with 2" carrara marble all throughout the kitchen, and did a soapstone again in the new potting room. (dark gray with white veining) Will be posting photos soon to my blog (subeeskitchen.com)

From where this picture was taken (in front of the pantry), the kitchen entrance is just to the right. To the left of the sink is a smaller room with a washer/dryer and more shelving. To the right of the sink is a work counter with shelves above (for pots, vases, etc.) To the right of this doorway is the base of a laundry chute and an old-fashioned ironing board cabinet. This space serves as a mudroom, "potting room" (a door leads to the yard & vegetable garden), craft area, ironing station and butler's pantry (depending on need and season).

This is an addition to a 1905 classic white house, and the hardware matches. Unlaquered brass is as classic as it gets. It will get darker, but will shine where you touch it every day. Embrace the patina.

I am struggling with hardware...may I ask, with the brass door knobs (LOVE) and the nickel in the kitchen w carrara marble (same) what finish did you use on light fixtures in family room? I'm assuming you can see it from the kitchen. Mine is a great room / kitchen and I'm struggling with what finish to use for my ceiling fan in family room...I also have a fan in kitchen. Do you think they should match? nickel/brass...????
