This is the clients' family room and it is widely open on 2 sides towards the kitchen and the hallway. Sitting on one side, the view is of the garden and beyond, the sea, as well as the fireplace. Sitting on the other side is for watching TV or films on a screen that rolls down from the ceiling. The bolsters can be moved anywhere on the sofa, for instance, pushed way back to watch a movie lying down completely, or they can stay in the middle, as shown here and allow family members to engage in different activities without interference from " the other side" but still being close. Of course, for young kids, it is fantastic for fort building, of which I can attest, there was quite a bit here. Hope this helps.

We custom designed the sofa and can make it to your custom specifications but bear in mind shipping costs would be high, given the size, if you are not in California. Hope this helps.

It was custom designed by us, which I think is explained in the photo caption.

The family room lives up to its name: Trucks and toy ladders are strewn on the coffee table, and the sofa serves as both a jumping point and a lounging spot for the entire family. The multidirectional sofa allows the family to use and orient it according to their needs.Sofa: custom, Natasha Barrault Designs and Hervé Daridan

two sided sofa I also like the long sofa cushion instead of individual ones

This configurable sofa is just one tactic Natasha Barrault used to create a multifunctional, flexible living space for a Malibu residence that houses a young family. Almost like an oversized daybed, the custom design features moveable bolsters that act as backrests when the family wishes to use their piece as a sofa or as structural supports when kiddies’ imaginations dream up a fort.
