    Hello Adam,
Although I do not have a close up of where the marble meets the wall, I can visualize your challenge. This likely stems from the walls not being perfectly plumb and the stone was cut straight (vs. a scribe cut to follow the wall). At this point, the best solution would be to feather drywall mud from fireplace out to keep the walls smooth and reduce the caulking joints. The Marble Institute of America guideline is for a 1/8" max caulk joint.

    Hope this helps!

The marble on the fireplace is Calcutta Statuario with a polished finish. A classic!

Slab. A slab of marble, granite or another solid surface creates a dramatic and minimalist aesthetic. Make sure to hand select your slab and discuss the best area to cut with your installer. Try to take advantage of veining that creates a focal point. Cost: Around $7,000 to $10,000 for the slab, fabrication and installation. This facing is among the higher-priced ones.

I like this minimalist approach, but the article says a slab is a most expensive option. Might want a small mantle anyway
