Creekside Cottage-Kiawah Island Traditional Living Room, Charleston

Description: Built as a refuge for a busy California couple, this creek-side cottage was constructed on land populated with ancient live oaks; sited to preserve the oaks and accentuate the creek-side vistas. The owners wanted their Kiawah home to be less formal than their primary residence, ensuring that it would accommodate 3 – 4 vacationing couples. Volumes, room shapes and arrangements provide classical symmetries, while careful detailing with variations in colors, finishes and furnishings provide soothing spaces for relaxation.

The settee is by Mariette Himes Gomez for Hickory Chair. Unfortunately, it appears to be discontinued:

Molding and vaulted/angled ceiling? - My ceiling vault does not center over the fireplace and it is higher. Do you think I could add the molding across like you did? My arched door height is only 8ft and my ceiling is about 15ft so I am not sure where to place the molding height wise. I am not sure how to post a picture for you.

Hi! Our office executed all the drawings and designs for the millwork in the project, and a local millwork shop fabricated the trim to our specifications.
