Hello, Carmine. This isn't my project, but I have slate counters and they are uniformly flat just like any other stone counter. I love it. It's durable and beautiful. I also had a slate top made for my outdoor dining table and after 5 years in the elements it remains smooth and unstained.

    Hi Carmine,

These tops are not completely flat. There are a few areas that do have some high and low spots but are not quite as pronounced as a slate tile. As we were laying out the counter tops with the client and counter fabricator, we selected to put the "character" ridges off to the side of the main working areas. I hope this helps.

Yes, the sink is made of the same slate as the countertops.

I like the idea of the stools fitting underneath the counter top to save space. I also like the contrast of dark/light counters and cabinets.
