That sofa and chair is by Warren Platner designed in 1972 for Steelcase. It is the "Soft Seating" line. There is a sofa, lounge chair, and table to match. They are a fiberglass shell (usually white or beige) with an acrylic base giving it a floating effect. The cushions are leather or naugahyde, in brown, sage, or black. They pop up on ebay, etsy, and 1stdibs from time to time. If you can get a set for under $5K you are getting a darn good deal.

(yes, they're my favorites too, I haven't bought mine yet so I might be giving myself competition, lol! :)

Soft Seating CollectionThe acrylic bases under the fiberglass shells of this sofa, chair and table make the pieces seem to float. They’re part of the 1970s Soft Seating collection, variously attributed to Warren Platner and William Andrus, by Michigan office furniture maker Steelcase. The set forms a seating area in a 1959 house in Dallas.

A futuristic black leather sofa and armchair look like they're levitating on their clear plastic bases. Luckily, the Bishops have an easy time making design choices together. When they shop, they often find themselves picking out the exact same thing.Sofa, armchair: eBay; coffee table: chrome, Lula B's
