Deluxe in AlexandriaTraditional Kitchen, DC Metro

This whole house renovation done by Harry Braswell Inc. used Virginia Kitchen's design services (Erin Hoopes) and materials for the bathrooms, laundry and kitchens. The custom millwork was done to replicate the look of the cabinetry in the open concept family room. This completely custom renovation was eco-friend and is obtaining leed certification. Hello, I love this countertop and I have tried to find Macabus quartzite in the DC area to no avail. Do you know of anyone who has it or something similar? I found Mont Blanc but it's not as pretty to me as Macabus. Thanks!

I am renovating in Naples Florida and just love the pendants (I am using quartzite also) you have used. Just the right size. Can you tell me what company made them. THANKS!Write a comment

The island is roughly 4' wide x 9' 6" (sized as large as the slab would allow). Generally 9' is a push for most countertop/islands without a seam. The max rule of thumb is 8' 6" to allow for edge detail.
The wall color is BM Owl Grey
    Hope that helps!

Not a problem - if you want something a little creamier BM dove white is a good option and a cooler tone would be the Decorators White (also by BM). Good luck!

If grey owl is not right for me since it has green in it, but I am replicating this kitchen as much as possible, can you suggest a wall color for an open floor plan like this? I'm thinking a greige since I will have a dark brown distressed wood floor, but yet the countertops have gray in them. So I'd like something that looks both gray and beige. I'm struggling bad with this and would love a suggestion. Thank you :)

What type of oak flooring and what color stain is used on the floor?

  • PRO
    Erin Hoopes
These are oak floors with a custom stain in field made by combined different colors. Your hardwood flooring installer should be able to customize these to your selection if you do a stain in place hardwood application.

Susan Jablon - but apparently the color is not the same in the current lot so I would be wary of ordering without a sample and a guarantee that the sample is from the lot of tile you would be receiving.

Schluter strip was used to finish the exposed edges and is what I recommend for most glass tile installations.

Quartzite pricing higher than granite as it is a premium stone and its more complicated to fabricate. Roughly $95-120/square foot installed depending on the slabs and your location. Best of luck!

I just bought White Macaubus Quartzite for my kitchen remodel and it was much more expensive than granite.

I'd have to look back at my records to confirm. It was a custom color match so the client actually approved the sample. Therefore it wouldn't necessarily be an exact match and the lighting in the photography can skew that as well. I'd recommend getting samples of both as I've used them both with success in the past.

I believe its west elm. You'd have to go to their site for specs on the fixture.

I would look for something with more white and grey that goes with the cabinet color and overall design (countertop etc). Visiting a local tile showroom can be very helpful for that!
