The desk is just an opening in the cabinetry with the countertop spanning the opening.

Those are nice, agree. Not sure what the designer used. Questions on the tile: I got that covered. :)

We had the shelf custom fabricated and install in the wall before the tile was put up. It is just a steel plate - with L brackets builtin into the wall behind the tile. I'm sorry, I don't know exactly how much it could hold - but it's fairly sturdy.

Create a lovely view from other rooms. With the popularity of open floor plans, many homeowners want their kitchens to look more like the other rooms. This portion of the kitchen can be seen from other rooms in the house and is the first thing you see as you approach it. Designer Ryan Brown made the most of that design opportunity by covering the wall in spectacular handmade concrete diamond-patterned tiles by Arto.See the rest of this house

This part of the kitchen serves as command central. Glossy gray lacquered cabinets contrast with the flat-finish graphic tile wall. A leather wrap softens the industrial look of the stainless steel drawer pulls. Art: Brian Wills
